Hello everyone! This is a friendly reminder that any of these fun places we may visit, we are a guest at. Please treat both businesses and trails with the utmost respect. We here at Hidden San Diego follow the 'Leave no Trace' mantra, meaning whatever you bring with you comes back with you. If you see trash on a trail, please do your part to help remove it. Remember, we are not picking up trash from another person but instead cleaning up for Mother Nature. Happy adventures!

The Inez Grant Parker Memorial Rose Garden in Balboa Park is a true treasure, featuring over 2,500 rose bushes in more than 200 varieties across three acres. Bursting with color and fragrance, it’s no surprise this garden was awarded the prestigious Award of Garden Excellence by the World Federation of Rose Societies in 2003 and later named one of the 16 best public rose gardens in the world.
The garden began as the dream of Dick Streeper, president of the San Diego Rose Society in 1969, who worked with fellow rosarians to establish a public space dedicated to roses. With help from the Parker Foundation, local rose businesses, and city council support, the garden was officially dedicated in 1975.

Over the years, the garden has grown and improved, with expanded beds, upgraded irrigation, and the addition of David Austin English Roses. Accessible walkways welcome both locals and tourists, while volunteers from the Rose Garden Corps keep the space thriving. Blooming from spring through fall, it’s a favorite spot for strolls, weddings, and rose lovers alike.
