Webb Park

I feel many would be surprised to learn that this beautiful oasis is hidden amongst the shopping plazas and a freeway in Rancho Bernardo. It’s that perfect spot to have a picnic, bird watch, bring your family and do a photoshoot (we actually did our JV softball photoshoot here in high school).

Yes the freeway can be annoying and distracting, but what a perfect place to practice tuning out all the noise and focusing on the beauty in front of you!

History

Webb Park actually comes with a lot of history.  Long before the surrounding neighborhoods were filled in, this land was part of Rancho Bernardo’s earliest master-planned vision in the 1960’s. Back then open green space was intentionally set aside for growing communities and this one was no different.

Named after local civic leader J. Barney Webb, the park was designed as a gathering place first. I remember before they turned it into the park it is today, it was a hotspot for all the local skaters.  I, along with many others, were devastated when they demolished this iconic skate spot for open space sidewalks.  I can appreciate it today but it took many years lol,

Although this is a small space and definitely not something to hike and conquer, it’s a perfect spot to relax and reflect.
