Hello everyone! This is a friendly reminder that any of these fun places we may visit, we are a guest at. Please treat both businesses and trails with the utmost respect. We here at Hidden San Diego follow the 'Leave no Trace' mantra, meaning whatever you bring with you comes back with you. If you see trash on a trail, please do your part to help remove it. Remember, we are not picking up trash from another person but instead cleaning up for Mother Nature. Happy adventures!

Kate Sessions Park boasts some of the most beautiful views of Mission Bay, the ocean and the city below. This is a wonderful location to have a picnic, play with your dog, bbq, or just enjoy the serenity. There are several hiking trails on site featuring natural habitat and a small creek below during winter.
Kate Sessions Park is named after the highly influential horticulturist, Kate Sessions. Kate Sessions was an ex-school teacher who previously worked at a flower shop before becoming San Diego’s head botanist.
Kate Sessions was dubbed the ‘Mother of Balboa Park‘ and is responsible for planting hundreds of exotic plants throughout San Diego. After her urging for a park on Mt Soledad, the city finally put aside land for a park. Originally named the Soledad Terrace Park, it was renamed in 1957 after her on her 100th birthday.
I was also informed by archaeologist Ron May that before it was a park, they used to do archaeological digs here. He said they found dinner plate-sized fossil shells and shark teeth the size of their hands!

I saved a baby bunny that was stuck in a fence here! Poor thing was freaking out! I happened to be wearing my mom’s faux fur jacket that day which made me look like a crazy rabbit lady! 😛
