Hello everyone! This is a friendly reminder that any of these fun places we may visit, we are a guest at. Please treat both businesses and trails with the utmost respect. We here at Hidden San Diego follow the 'Leave no Trace' mantra, meaning whatever you bring with you comes back with you. If you see trash on a trail, please do your part to help remove it. Remember, we are not picking up trash from another person but instead cleaning up for Mother Nature. Happy adventures!

Personal Experience: I have been hearing about these caves since I was a teenager. Fast forward 16 years and I FINALLY got to explore them!  I completely wussed out on the Popcorn cave and am really surprised that there is tagging on it and people brave enough to risk their lives to get inside. The cave is nothing too interesting inside going by what my friends have told me.  I would not risk your life to see it.  If you do though, bring rope. That's my advice. The hike is not as strenuous as it appears. This is a fun adventure. We also found some old ruins of the past down below from an old ranch.

You have to climb!

POPCORN & GNOME CAVES

The first cave we found was the Gnome Cave with little gnomes inside, hence the name:

The views are remarkable!

I can see why it's called the Popcorn Cave, it definitely looks like popped corn:

This is the entrance to the cave.  In no way is this worth risking one's life to enter, especially considering the cave is not that impressive at all!

We also found evidence of an old homestead out here!

Been living in this area for 10 years. I can even see my house from one of the pics. I would love to explore this spot (through the pics I figured where exactly this is – kept secret now). Love this website!
