Hello everyone! This is a friendly reminder that any of these fun places we may visit, we are a guest at. Please treat both businesses and trails with the utmost respect. We here at Hidden San Diego follow the 'Leave no Trace' mantra, meaning whatever you bring with you comes back with you. If you see trash on a trail, please do your part to help remove it. Remember, we are not picking up trash from another person but instead cleaning up for Mother Nature. Happy adventures!

About the San Diego Animal Sanctuary & Farm:

The San Diego Animal Sanctuary & Farm is an amazing animal sanctuary located out in Alpine. This ranch-style retreat has over 20 acres of land and is home to over 190 animals, both domesticated livestock and exotic animals from all over the world.

Each animal comes with its own story and all are either rescues or born on the property.

The retreat is specifically designed to help children develop a sense of wonder for nature and its inhabitants through unstructured exploration and learning.

Fun and educational `interactive encounters’ are available for everyone to learn and foster an appreciation for animals, nature, sustainable farming and the ecosystem.

About the Animals:

At the San Diego Animal Sanctuary & Farm you get up close and personal experiences with most of the animals. Befriend all different types of creatures such as tortoises, turkeys, pigs, llamas, alpacas, zebras, camels, bison and so much more!  They even have a mini farm section with all miniature animals such as goats and ponies!

They strongly believe in the ethical treatment of all animals and it shows with how kind the creatures are.  All of the animals have large, sprawling spaces to live in and all get fed organic food!

Currently, they have more than:

200+ domesticated livestock and exotic animals from around the world

23 different species

70 distinct breeds

While you’re in the area, make sure to visit the Alpine Historical Society!

Many of their animals have been acquired from owners who could no longer keep or care for them, while some have been rescued from harsh living conditions. These animals will now live out the rest of their lives in the serenity of the Retreat.

They are very passionate about bringing children and animals together, to allow for unfiltered happiness and joy for animals and children. To create a fun and teachable experience for the children there are six separate areas where our animals reside, each reflecting a different world in the animal kingdom.
