Hello everyone! This is a friendly reminder that any of these fun places we may visit, we are a guest at. Please treat both businesses and trails with the utmost respect. We here at Hidden San Diego follow the 'Leave no Trace' mantra, meaning whatever you bring with you comes back with you. If you see trash on a trail, please do your part to help remove it. Remember, we are not picking up trash from another person but instead cleaning up for Mother Nature. Happy adventures!

Harlow's Cocktail Lounge

About Harlow’s Cocktail Lounge

Harlow’s Cocktail Lounge is definitely one of the most beautiful restaurants I have visited in San Diego.  Unlike most of the swanky restaurants which reside in central San Diego, this one sits as a true hidden gem, tucked away in the rural town of Bonsall.

(PS: You can get an idea of the beauty of Bonsall by checking out this article we did on The Emerald Village, located a few blocks away from Harlow’s)!

Located in the former San Luis Rey Downs Golf Club, Harlow’s Cocktail Lounge is run by the owners behind Trademark Venues. Trademark Venues is a company that specializes in top-of-the-line wedding events & venues.

I used to live in Bonsall but sadly this restaurant did not exist when I was out there.  Otherwise, we would have been here allll the time, even if to just grab some drinks and listen to the phenomenal live music!

The Mood

The décor is inspired by a blend of the 1920’s-50’s. I was blown away with its unique beauty and style the second we walked inside.  Definite speakeasy vibes and you would never suspect it from the outside!

The entire lounge is dimly lit with red and gold lighting.  It truly feels as though you’ve transported back in time. Dress up for the occasion because you will definitely want to grab photos while here.

The Food

Get ready for your taste buds to be taken for a ride! The pairing of ingredients is truly exotic in every dish which extends to the outstanding drinks as well! We went all out and tried many tasty dishes (and brought a lot home for leftovers).

We started with the Springs Greens salads with poached bosc pear, golden raisins, spiced pepitas, goat cheese, romaine, baby kale and Anaheim chile buttermilk dressing.

We also had their Charcuterie Board with chicken pâté, chef’s selection of cured meats and cheeses, myrtle berry compote, pepper relish, fresh fruit, candied nuts, house mustard, chef’s house butter and assorted breads.

We tried the Lobster Stuffed Sole with crab rosti, confit jumbo asparagus and sherry-dijon pan jus and the Pistacio Granola Diver Sea Scallops with cashew cream, wild mushroom ragout, pear barley milanese and cilantro-jalapeno gremolata.

For dessert we had their Warm Pumpkin Spiced Bread Pudding made with vanilla bean gelato, honey crisp bourbon apple glaze, oat crumble and caramel glaze.

During our entire dinner we sat right next to the stage where we were serenaded by the ridiculously talented musician Jason J. Jenkins.  He plays insane flamenco guitar.

For those wanting to live out the fantasy of being alive during early Hollywood glamour days, here is your opportunity!

Trying to be sultry for the shot.  Didn’t quite work haha:
