If you’re a history buff, lover of planes or are a fan of great food, you absolutely have to visit 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant! This spot is truly one-of-a-kind.

94th Aero Squadron Restaurant is situated inside a replica of a World War I French farmhouse. The restaurant is over-flowing with so many historical relics that calling it a museum is just as fair as calling it a restaurant. You will most likely dine above model planes or even an actual plane wing. 

The restaurant got its name after one of the first American fighter squadrons to see combat service in World War I and the theme is heavily centered around this concept.

If that’s not exciting enough, the 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant is located right next to Montgomery Field, specifically in front of a helicopter pad.  So you get to enjoy choppers landing and taking off while you dine on your meal. 

I was told that pilots used to be able to land their planes and walk right into the restaurant before 9-11.  Can you imagine how cool of an experience that must have been?

The interior, which kind of resembles a bunker, is inviting and cozy with large, stone fireplaces and scenic views. They also have banquet areas to do private events such as weddings, corporate parties, etc.

Dining

Let’s talk about the food now. We visited during their famous Sunday champagne brunch and WOW.  The spread is incredible and extensively covers dishes from across the globe.

Enjoy items such as a custom-made omelet or hand-carved top sirloin. They also have fresh fruit, sushi, menudo, waffles, eggs benedict, crab legs, cowboy corn, agua frescas…the list goes on and on and on. Make sure to save room for dessert because they have an entire row just dedicated to sweets!

There is both indoor and outdoor dining options so on a nice, sunny day you can enjoy the weather while watching the helicopters!

History

94th Aero Squadron Restaurant was founded in 1976 by World War II Army veteran and restaurateur David Tallichet. David flew over 20 combat missions during his time in the military.

Once he retired from the military he got into the restaurant industry founding Specialty Restaurants in 1958 and opening over 100 restaurants during the span of his career.

Club 94th

Adding a whole new twist to this restaurant was learning about Club 94th.  On the 1st Friday of each month, the restaurant turns into a nightclub!  I was told it’s one of the city’s oldest hip hop clubs and pulls in over 1,000 people during that one night.  Wow!
