About the Secret Pyramids of Scripps Ranch
Until recently, these pyramids were a complete mystery as to who built them and why. As the legend goes, 7 pyramids were constructed at least 60 years ago and placed in various parts of the woods in Scripps Ranch.  Although some have since been destroyed, at least 3 still stand today.
It turns out they were built by the McMillin family, which were and still are real estate tycoons in San Diego. The pyramids were built in strategic places as a scavenger hunt of sort near model homes. It was an incentive to get people to look at the homes while crossing off the pyramids that they found!
I found an excerpt on a person’s childhood recounting how they used to play on the pyramids: “Everyone believed that if you sat on the top platform of the pyramid that your creativity would expand.” If anyone knows any information on them it would be greatly appreciated!
Personal Experience
This is not a crazy adventure by any means, so don’t plan a full day of crazy hiking and bravery in order to find them. Â They are hidden and camouflaged though and quite fascinating as to why they were built. Â They are pretty large and each have their own character.
This was my friend’s snake. Â We did not stumble upon it during our adventure!

So 23 years a go I used to drink on top of the one with platform. One night I had a pack of coyote circling around the bottom. Anyway if you go north on Pomarado rd. There was another place we would go.. might be government property but had buildings with bullet holes, a tripod with jar of potassium Cyndi, rocket launcher thing and old brick gas station.. try to find it please. You guys are good at finding stuff..I have old pic’s if it would help

So first off they are 2 different locations only about 5 min apart. The first pyramid w/the tire swings was cute and had a picnic table near by w/a bbq. There was a small trail there also. It’s like a neighborhood park. I think it’s a cute small family spot. It is right behind private homes so that kind of felt weird but other than that it was a good woodsy area. The second pyramid w/the garden fort thing is down a short trail at the 2nd location. That spot felt very weird because it’s right behind a home that has a see through fence that basically touches the fort and the family that lives there was out in their backyard so it felt like we were invading their privacy/area.
