Hello everyone! This is a friendly reminder that any of these fun places we may visit, we are a guest at. Please treat both businesses and trails with the utmost respect. We here at Hidden San Diego follow the 'Leave no Trace' mantra, meaning whatever you bring with you comes back with you. If you see trash on a trail, please do your part to help remove it. Remember, we are not picking up trash from another person but instead cleaning up for Mother Nature. Happy adventures!

Located in the backhills of Ramona is a scenic hike that will end with views of one of San Diego's elusive waterfalls: Devil's Jumpoff. If you hope to catch the waterfall running though, make sure to hike after we've had some good rainfall as it is seasonal.

The trail is actually an old fire road which overlooks Dye Canyon.  We spotted several cuts in the hills that appear to be seasonal waterfalls beyond the Devil's Jump-off.  I will have to return one day after a good storm and report back!

While you're in the area, make sure to check out Cedar Creek Falls nearby!

Please note that the hike ends abruptly at a private property sign so this is an out and back hike.  Enjoy views of both Cuyamaca and Eagle Peak with tiny views of El Capitan Reservoir.

Personal Experience: We did this hike in early December and the temperature was still pretty hot!  I don't remember it always being this way in December but alas, that is our current reality.

The hike takes you along an old fire road that eventually turns into a dirt trail.  The views become stunning in no time.  I am always amazed at how many beautiful hikes there are in San Diego that I had not taken yet! We are so lucky to live in such a gorgeous and diverse county.

West Side Road & Devil’s Jumpoff

In no time we were away from civilization:

Here is a shot of the dry Devil's Jumpoff.  After a good rainfall, you can catch it raging into a beautiful cascade down the hillside:

This is where our hike stopped.  Notice the sign's picture is from a game cam.  Look at the mountain lion in the shot!!

Back down the hill we go for sunset.  Such a lovely hike!
