Hello everyone! This is a friendly reminder that any of these fun places we may visit, we are a guest at. Please treat both businesses and trails with the utmost respect. We here at Hidden San Diego follow the 'Leave no Trace' mantra, meaning whatever you bring with you comes back with you. If you see trash on a trail, please do your part to help remove it. Remember, we are not picking up trash from another person but instead cleaning up for Mother Nature. Happy adventures!

We recently got the opportunity to spend a night at Robin’s Nest Ranch Retreat. The owners of the property have done an incredible job creating a nurturing environment for the rescued animals they have brought in while allowing the public to be a part of it.
Robin’s Nest Ranch Retreat is a 5 acre, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Ramona. The first thought that came to my mind to describe it is a boutique sanctuary. It’s very much a farm/rescue, but so cute and well curated that it very much gives boutique vibes.
They have many different ways to visit their property which includes staying in their vintage 1975 airstream, attending one of their events, volunteering with their animals or taking a farm tour.
At the time of our visit, Robin’s Nest Ranch Retreat had 2 chihuahuas, 2 Australian cattle dogs, 4 pot belly pigs, a mini horse, mini donkey, a Buckskin Quarter Horse, two lambs and 4 alpacas. You can learn more about each animal’s story here.
The animals have their own pens as well as a large open space they are rotated into daily. Their mission is to provide a sanctuary for neglected, abandoned, or abused animals. Each animal comes with its own sad story and it is so beautiful to see them thriving here.
It is important for the owners to educate their visitors of the importance of the healing powers that happen between humans and animals when in a safe, loving environment.
The owners have a particular interest in miniature breeds as they are often discarded when fully grown and/or they have special needs and health concerns. Each animal that comes through their gates has entered their forever home.
Sleeping on the ranch means you get to stay in their 1975 Airstream Sovereign Land Yacht which can be booked through AirBnb or HipCamp.
Amenities include a hot tub/jacuzzi, 300 sq ft. deck, super comfy King size bed (the dinette turns in to an additional King sleeping space), Wifi, dedicated workspace, free parking on premises, 32 inch HDTV with Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Netflix. Also, pets are allowed!
They also have a small 1954 Camper (“Lucy”) that can act as a second bedroom for more sleeping space (check for add-on).
If you want a true immersive, farm experience ask about their add-on experiences which include grooming the animals, helping at feed time and cleaning their pens! They also have an add-on for camping with your horse!
WHEELCHAIR ACCESS: They can provide a ramp for the Airstream for accessibility, though please be aware the camper is small, likely not wide enough for a standard wheelchair, and the bathroom is also small and doesn’t meet ADA standards.Â
They are hosting some really unique events which include an annual music festival, introduction to mounted archery while shooting from horseback, retreats and much more! Check out some photos from past events below:
This project wouldn’t be possible without the incredible mom and daughter duo Kimber and Sue Williams. They come from 5 generations of ranchers which runs deep in their veins.
Kimber’s dream was always to one day open an animal rescue (Robin is her middle name). She even had the name of the rescue decided 7 years before her dream came true!Â
Commercial shoots are also allowed on the property. They have an amazing Chevy Bel Air that can be used in shoots!
Please email Kimber if you have any questions! [email protected]
