Hello everyone! This is a friendly reminder that any of these fun places we may visit, we are a guest at. Please treat both businesses and trails with the utmost respect. We here at Hidden San Diego follow the 'Leave no Trace' mantra, meaning whatever you bring with you comes back with you. If you see trash on a trail, please do your part to help remove it. Remember, we are not picking up trash from another person but instead cleaning up for Mother Nature. Happy adventures!

About Lake Poway:

Tucked away in the hills of Poway, Lake Poway has been a beloved community hub since 1972. The lake not only serves as the city’s water supply but also offers endless outdoor recreation—from fishing and boating to picnicking, softball, and summer day camps. With its extensive trail system and man-made dam connecting it to the reserve, Lake Poway is a scenic spot for both relaxation and adventure.

Personal Experience: If you’re like me and hike for both exercise and scenery, spring is the best time to visit. The hills come alive with color, and the wildflowers are beautiful before the summer heat dries everything out. While I don’t find this hike particularly thrilling, it’s a great one for building endurance and taking in some lovely views of the lake and surrounding landscape. It’s a classic Poway outing that perfectly captures the spirit of the area.

There is a trail through Blue Sky Preserve that’ll take you directly to Lake Ramona, so technically you can do two lakes in one hike!

Actually, it’s just as well you didn’t have your bike – they’re not permitted at Blue Sky.
