Hello everyone! This is a friendly reminder that any of these fun places we may visit, we are a guest at. Please treat both businesses and trails with the utmost respect. We here at Hidden San Diego follow the 'Leave no Trace' mantra, meaning whatever you bring with you comes back with you. If you see trash on a trail, please do your part to help remove it. Remember, we are not picking up trash from another person but instead cleaning up for Mother Nature. Happy adventures!

Quixote Farm is a multi-generational, regenerative farm located in Pauma Valley. I feel this area often gets over-looked as people zoom past this charming orchard town to make their way to Palomar Mountain.
This is your opportunity to stop, relax and inhale the fragrant citrus notes that waft throughout their property.
There are many different reasons to visit Quixote Farm such as staying in one of their beautiful AirBnb’s, attending one of their U-pick citrus dates, hosting a wedding or event or grabbing goods from their farmstand.
The property specializes in agritourism which allows the public to get an up-close experience into what goes into running a farm.Â
We spent one night in the Lower Barn Villa when we stayed here. It was pure magic. Co-owner of the property, Lara, was an interior decorator in OC in her past life and REALLY has a knack for it.Â
Every painting, piece of furniture & accessory in the Barn and cottage is pulled together seamlessly. I’m sure you will be able to tell if you visit here too.
By the way, there is a secret passageway leading to the upper portion of the barn! You will most likely have to book both the top and the bottom to see it but if you’re lucky you may get to walk through it!
At night you could really tell we were in the wilderness. All I could hear was the croaking of the frogs, owls and coyotes. It was exactly what my mind and soul needed.
The next morning we cooked in their fabulous kitchen. Included was freshly squeezed juice from their oranges and homemade granola & scones from Lara. Her scones were SO good. I want to go back just for them alone!
Owners Lara and Skip have a background in hospitality and used to run a bed & breakfast in South Pasadena. They treat their farmstay like an Old World country inn. Let them spoil you when you’re here!
The granola shown below was from Lara, the main plates were cooked by my partner and I: `
There are several offerings you can add to your itinerary while visiting the property. One of them is a Bed and Breakfast for all AirBnb guests. The food can either be delivered to you or in the summer months can be served in the orchard.
The menu items change seasonally but may include the following:
* Frittata in skillet (eggs, herbs, vegetables, potatoes, cheese) served with salsa and sour cream),
* Lemon scones with homemade jam
* Bacon or sausage
* Pitcher of fresh squeezed orange or grapefruit juice
You also have the option to order 12 scones with homemade jam which honestly, get these to go if you want to cook yourself or keep things simple. These are so darn delicious you’ll want them for the road and when you get home!
They offer charcuterie boards served at their over-look for up to 6 people at sunset. You will get to ride in their super-cool off-roading vehicle which is an adventure in itself. It will wind you up the mountain to the viewpoint showcasing off all the land below! On a clear day you can see all the way to the ocean!
You will then get to enjoy an extensive cheese + charcuterie board served with a carafe of red or white wine. They even provide blankets!
If you are interested in purchasing some of their tasty goods, lucky for you they have an adorable farmstand. It is regularly stocked with Lara’s own creations plus other goods created from local crafters! Enjoy breads, jams, soaps, honey and so much more! Â
For those interested in hosting their own private event here, they would love to chat with you about your vision! They can accommodate up to 30 guests all inclusive. Shoot them an email to discuss [email protected]!Â
