About Mystique Dining

Mystique Dining is definitely one of the most unique dining experiences I have ever had.  Located in La Jolla, get ready for a night of magic & gourmet food whilst dining inside a secret chamber designed for kings and queens.

When we arrived one of the first things that caught my eyes were the mysterious, double black doors.  You cannot help but wonder what is behind them?  You must wait to be welcomed inside though. In the meantime you can grab a drink at the beautiful bar where the bartender doubles as a magician.

The lobby itself is interesting enough to just grab some drinks with friends.  Vintage carnival posters of master magicians line the walls while candles flicker in the dimly-lit room. You anxiously wonder what your night will entail.  Something is definitely brewing.

While you’re in the area, make sure to visit the Sunny Jim Cave nearby!

Once you are finally ushered into the much-awaited chamber you will instantly feel as if you are on a Hollywood set, or perhaps living a second life where you are part of royalty! The delicious 5 course meal will further feed this fantasy. The room is both elegant and sophisticated with no details left out.

Do not feel intimidated though as the dress code is still casual if you would like. On the other hand, do not be afraid to dress up if that’s what your heart desires!  This place makes for amazing back-drops for photos!

This intimate experience holds a maximum of 30 people, which makes it a great spot to celebrate with friends and family for private events.  Otherwise, it is treated like a fun pop-up dinner where you are seated with strangers but leave as friends.

The menu at Mystique Dining showcases the masterful craftsmanship of local chefs, using only the finest ingredients with a beautiful presentation. Each dish is a meticulously-crafted work of art combining flavors, textures and ingredients.

After you finish your meal, a master magician will come out to give you an unforgettable 45 minute show. I was told Mystique Dining is carrying some of the best magicians in the world.

I watched his hands closely when he did his tricks and I could not figure out how he was hiding things!  He definitely was a master!

The magicians double as comedians and this is an interactive show so do not be surprised if you get called on. The night is light-hearted and a fun time for all.

History of Mystique Dining

The brainchild behind these magical dining venues is a man named Terry Commons.  Mystique Dining in La Jolla his actually is 5th location, opening in 2021.

Terry studied Theater Arts while pursuing a career as a professional illusionist. He was honored as the Best Stage Magician in 1989 by the Texas Association of Magicians, which is one of the oldest fraternities of magic in the world.

By 2005 he became a magician member of the world famous Magic Castle in Los Angeles. In 1997 he opened his first magic-themed dinner theater in Idaho. Today there are 5 locations in both California and Utah.
