Hello everyone! This is a friendly reminder that any of these fun places we may visit, we are a guest at. Please treat both businesses and trails with the utmost respect. We here at Hidden San Diego follow the 'Leave no Trace' mantra, meaning whatever you bring with you comes back with you. If you see trash on a trail, please do your part to help remove it. Remember, we are not picking up trash from another person but instead cleaning up for Mother Nature. Happy adventures!

About Wynola Flats Country Store

Wynola Flats Country Store is a local produce and antique shop located in the charming back-country town Wynola. The shop specializes in local, organically-grown produce, a wide variety of honey, jams, olive oils & balsamic vinegars, antiques and hand-crafted items from local artists.

For those that don’t know, Wynola is one town over from the bustling town of Julian. Wynola often gets over-looked as people whiz right through it to get up to Julian. I’ll bet you noticed how beautiful and cute it was while driving by though!

Lately I’ve been taking the time to learn more about this town and falling more and more in love with each visit!.

Organic Produce

Supporting local farmers should be a goal from everyone.  Not only are you keeping the money within your own city and supporting small businesses, but you are also most likely getting organic food which is SO important to our health.

While you’re in the area, make sure to check out Fort Cross Old Timey Adventures nearby!

Much of the produce at Wynola Flats in grown right in the back of the business by owner, Mike Bruton. During apple season they have the widest selection of apples by a large margin.

Wynola Flats has relationships with most local growers and they even get most of the U-pick fruit that is too high for the public to pick.

So for apple nerds, they are ground zero for tasting, education and just an amazing range of tastes. The owner also tries to educate customers about produce – growing, storing, cooking etc.

We took a peek back there and saw all types of lovely vegetables growing (ok squash is technically a fruit so we will say fruits and vegetables).

Wynola Flats is also known for its wide variety of honey grown all over the country.  He even has a honey tasting station!  Whether you are wanting local flavors or something more tropical  Hawaiian honey, he has a ton of options!

He also has a great selection of balsamic vinegars, olive oils and preserves! We got to sample some extremely unique olive oils and balsamics.

He has a ton of cute antiques as well.  I loved these animal-veggie figurines! Please note that the store is constantly changing as new items are brought in.

The back of the shop is actually an old train cart.  So cool!  There is a frame that tells the story of the train inside this room:

I love that he sells mushroom growing kits!
