Hello everyone! This is a friendly reminder that any of these fun places we may visit, we are a guest at. Please treat both businesses and trails with the utmost respect. We here at Hidden San Diego follow the 'Leave no Trace' mantra, meaning whatever you bring with you comes back with you. If you see trash on a trail, please do your part to help remove it. Remember, we are not picking up trash from another person but instead cleaning up for Mother Nature. Happy adventures!

About Harmony Grove

Note: There has sadly been a ton of development of this land over the years so some areas no longer look like my photos. I will give credit to the homeowners of the newly developed areas though as they are going ALL out on Halloween decorations.  Check out our page for it here.

On this one road alone you will find a psychic village complete with little colorful homes & a seance room, ruins dating back to the early 1900’s, a two-story house on a hill with no doors or windows (only a garage and vents), a labyrinth and many other photo-worthy opportunities!

Harmony Grove

This whole area is rumored to be haunted by a white witch and many other apparitions. Other haunted locations in this immediate vicinity include the Harmony Grove Spiritualist Society, Elfin Forest and Questhaven Rd.  If you’re really brave, maybe stay at the Questhaven  Retreat!

Harmony Grove got its name because of how peaceful this area was.  Early settlers, Foster, Harding and Molette, established the spiritualist society out here in 1896.  Take note of the street signs which are named after the early pioneers. There are many historic buildings and archeological sites remaining in the Harmony Grove area. Those that haven’t been lost to development stand as a piece of crumbling history.

The Harmony Grove community has always abided by the “Dark Nighttime Sky Policy”. They value their dark nighttime sky and want to maintain it. They encourage all residential dwellings to preserve the dark sky by instituting an external lighting “lights-out” program after 10pm.  The new housing goes directly against this belief sadly.  Although I will give props to the Harmony Grove Village for their elaborate Halloween decorations each year.

The house with no windows:

Another old homestead we found not too far away from the one show above:

Then yet another ruin slightly down the trail from the one above this! I have no clue what this once was but there is an electrical box next to it. So curious!

And a secret pathway. This is private property so please don’t go looking for it. We were given permission by the owner to hike. I’m just including the pictures because it is in Harmony Grove and it was part of our exploring:

The brick area is an old house that we stumbled upon while hiking one day. I’m going to keep the whereabouts secret so too much foot-traffic doesn’t end up there, but props to anyone who finds it!

Is the brick area the old slaughter house? Have been down to this area. Found the old fireplace and house with no windows but that’s about it.

ok you guys…. I used to hike the area back in the 80’s when no one had trespass signs up. I found an old adobe (from memory) fireplace and had pictures that were destroyed 10 yrs ago. I could not find this place again since none of those business buildings were there at the time. ok so then recently I rediscover an adobe next to where another flattened house is at with only a stone fireplace. BUT the pictures you have look different than mine. That said, be cool and share with me your place and I ‘ll share mine although I am dead sure you already know where it is. Oh.. I didn’t know that we could walk up to the house with no windows. What is the deal with that house w/out windows? was it a silo?

i drive past that windowless home a lot and have always wanted to walk up to it. as noticed, you were able to? did you have to walk through the fence and walk up its driveway? i’ve always been fascinated and would love to get a closer look.

also, is the little bridge with the lion decor an entrance to an adventure or is it an entrance to a home? i think the last time i drove by it had a sign reading “do not disturb”, i think. unless that was the neighboring driveway. hmm

I am a photographer and I love this site because I enjoy finding places without people around to shoot. Anyway today I ventured to this location and could only find the chimney stack and graffiti area with skate ramp. I was with a girl, who has been here from Finland for a month, and thought she would enjoy seeing different stuff while I shoot photos. Well we were at the skate ramp area for about 5 minutes and a guy in a blue prism looking car stopped, walked over, and threatened to call the sheriff if we didn’t leave lol. He said, do you guys know you are on private property? I was like, no honestly we didn’t know at all and you don’t have signs up. I said, you should post some signs because we wouldn’t have stopped if it said private property. We weren’t being rude, in fact right when he asked us to leave we started to leave but he started getting weird. He also said kids go there and drink/mess up the area and they take down the signs but for some reason I don’t buy it…. does anyone know if that is private land? I know at the top it said private so we didn’t go there. Also lots of construction going on across the street and even next to this spot there was a huge machine making a new road up the other side of the hill. Oh and if anyone can tell me how to find the house with no windows I would be stoked!

    Thanks and take care

I ride horses at the equestrian center and look up at that old while house every day. I had no idea it didn’t have any windows or doors! Very strange, any one know the history of it?

Entry way to the white lions is haunted. Many have spotted a little girl wandering around during the night.

This needs to be updated. I found the area, and fences are put around everything that once was abandonded with a lot of “No Trespassing” signs. Originally came here so I wouldn’t be trespassing… But now I just wasted my time since I don’t want to deal with anyone calling the police.

This area is not a place to mess around. If you are looking for spirits you will find them amongst the oaks and the creek will whisper words of the dead if you listen close enough, on the darkest nights of the year.

  • Not haunted. I’ve lived there for 4 years.
