Hello everyone! This is a friendly reminder that any of these fun places we may visit, we are a guest at. Please treat both businesses and trails with the utmost respect. We here at Hidden San Diego follow the 'Leave no Trace' mantra, meaning whatever you bring with you comes back with you. If you see trash on a trail, please do your part to help remove it. Remember, we are not picking up trash from another person but instead cleaning up for Mother Nature. Happy adventures!

Questhaven Rd., which is neighbors to the Elfin Forest and Harmony Grove, is filled with haunted rumors. Whether or not there is any truth to these rumors will remain a mystery. What is undeniable about this place is the spooky feeling that it gives you when you drive on the windy, woodsy road.
Much of what used to be known as Questhaven is now known as the San Elijo Hills suburbs. Tons and tons of wooded acres were cut down to replace homes. Although this area is definitely scariest at night, I also recommend checking out the area during the day too because the surrounding area is actually filled with interesting spots to explore.
Questhaven Rd. has now partially been turned into a hiking trail which will give you the opportunity to get an intimate experience with the land in the day.
Here are some stories that my followers have shared of the area:
“Swear we saw the woman in white one time in high school. She was just standing there, head tilted down until she realized we were there. She followed us out to the road too and then “flew” through the car screaming. It got super cold in the car, we didn’t see her inside but we could hear her. Never went back
It happened so long ago the details are fuzzy, but she wore a high neck, long sleeve floor length white dress. Face tilted down, couldn’t see any features. When we saw her we ran back to the car and while driving away felt a cold breeze come through the car and a shrill noise that sounded like a scream. Then the cold went away and she was behind us in the road, as if she flew through the car. Of course, this was high school (almost 20 years ago) and beer and likely a then illegal substance was likely involved in the evening but I’m not the only one that’s seen her out there.”
This area, along with the Elfin Forest and Harmony Grove, are the types of places that are brimming with many stories and mysteries that quite possibly will never be revealed to the public. It is only natural for us to respect that.
When I was younger I used to pry so hard into these places. I would go in areas that I shouldn’t have gone and could sense that I was upsetting something far more powerful than me.
Through my exploration I found many interesting places and really felt that I was beginning to unearth some of the secrets that we aren’t supposed to know. I will not be writing about those discoveries here and most likely never will.
It was one fateful night in 2007 that everything came crashing down on me. I learned a powerful lesson that curiosity with places like these can be extremely dangerous. Let’s just say the night ended a bloody mess.
Part of what creeps me out in this area are the names. For a haunted area, the names are so peaceful (for the most part) and yet there are some very dark undertones. We have Questhaven, Spooks Canyon, Elfin Forest (El Fin is translated to “The End” in Spanish), Harmony Grove and you can take Avenida del Diablo (Avenue of the Devil) to get out here. Creepy!
The houses have character out here:
Here is the hiking trail (which you used to be able to drive through until around 2006). This is where we were one night when I had my accident.
I find this fascinating. Every wooden post along the trail has a star carved into it. Literally hundreds and hundreds of star-carved posts:
The gate that everyone gets so worked over. It’s not scary inside guys. It’s a retreat.

Me and couple buddies went there the other night and as we were walking towards the trails near quest haven, there was a caravan of the 3 cars that would not stop following us for a good 45 mins….we decided to bail when we saw tow truck coming for our car.

Is there a place to be able to park around there? Seems like we would have to park back near San Elijo and park in a neighborhood. Then, walk a little over a mile to get to the north trail head.
