Hello everyone! This is a friendly reminder that any of these fun places we may visit, we are a guest at. Please treat both businesses and trails with the utmost respect. We here at Hidden San Diego follow the 'Leave no Trace' mantra, meaning whatever you bring with you comes back with you. If you see trash on a trail, please do your part to help remove it. Remember, we are not picking up trash from another person but instead cleaning up for Mother Nature. Happy adventures!

The Gondola Company

About the Gondola Company

For those wanting to feel as though you’re on an excursion in Venice without actually travelling across seas, The Gondola Company in Coronado has you covered! Get ready to embark on a peaceful gondola ride through the canals of Coronado (yes, apparently Coronado has canals, who knew!).

Kick back and relax while a gondolier whisks you up and down the canals while listening to romantic Italian music.  You may even get serenaded by your gondolier if you’re lucky!

Although this is ultra-romantic and the perfect date idea, it’s also a ton of fun for families and friends.  I also love that it is dog-friendly! Use your best judgement with your pup if you choose to bring them as this could potentially go south depending on the dog!

The Gondola Company uses authentic gondolas from Venice, Italy creating an authentic Venetian experience. Their company is located within the Coronado Cays which is an extremely exclusive area with few sidewalks. Each home has its own dock though!

**While you’re in the area, make sure to take a Neighborhood Walk of Coronado!**

Riding in the gondola is one of the few ways you can appreciate this beautiful neighborhood.  There are plenty of gorgeous homes to gawk at and many yachts and other nice boats to admire!

A couple important notes about your experience:

  • Each gondola can accommodate up to six passengers
  • Each gondola cruise is private for only you and your guests
  • Select wines, non-alcoholic beverages and chocolate truffles are available for purchase
  • Cruises are available Monday – Friday from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. and weekends from noon to 11 p.m.
  • Reservations are required

We brought our own wine and tried the tasty truffles the Gondola Company sells during our ride:

Home admiring is almost as much fun as people watching! I can only imagine how cool it would be to live against a canal.  This area reminded my of the Venice Canals in Los Angeles!

The ride will take you just to the opening of the Coronado Bay, then turn back around to the nice, calm waters:

This house was incredible in person.  It took up the whole block! I was told it’s 20,000 sq. ft. and owned by some billionaire whose name I can’t remember:
