Hello everyone! This is a friendly reminder that any of these fun places we may visit, we are a guest at. Please treat both businesses and trails with the utmost respect. We here at Hidden San Diego follow the 'Leave no Trace' mantra, meaning whatever you bring with you comes back with you. If you see trash on a trail, please do your part to help remove it. Remember, we are not picking up trash from another person but instead cleaning up for Mother Nature. Happy adventures!

The Del Dios Tree House is a private residence and we will not be giving directions

About the Del Dios Tree House

Del Dios is one of the most charming towns I have found in San Diego.  This is a tight-knit community that lives in a hilly woodside over-looking Lake Hodges. The neighborhood largely consists of artists of various mediums giving it colorful and quirky touches around each corner.

Occasionally I like to take evening walks around her and just soak in all the magic of the woods. The beauty of Del Dios is it gives you rural experience while still being in close proximity to shopping centers and other normal means of living.

Almost every home has delicate touches that will leave you feeling uplifted and inspired.  During one of my walks, for instance, I came across the Spaceship House and met the lovely owners, Pancho and Margarita!

We have done a spread on the neighborhood as a whole, but today I will be talking about one home in particular: the Del Dios Tree House. We stumbled upon this unique home during an evening walk and while gawking at the beautiful mosaic pieces in the front yard, one of the owners came outside and greeted us.

The homeowners were kind enough to welcome us onto their property and that’s where the magic began! This husband and wife duo said that they did not always feel like artists, but believe that the artistic energy running through their neighborhood brought out their creative sides. The wife said that she learned how to do mosaics from a neighbor who teaches mosaic classes nearby.  The husband has always been a handyman so the wood-working skills required to create such interesting features on their property came naturally.

Del Dios Tree House

Their tree house is definitely the most notable feature on the property.  Taking the winding staircase to the top immediately greets you with stunning views of Lake Hodges.

While you’re in the area, make sure to check out Felicita Park nearby!

The floor has a large owl mural and the inside has a queen-sized mattress swaying off the ground.  It literally looks like a cozy bedroom collided with a tree house. Talk about every child’s dream!  The beauty of adulthood, is you can make all those dreams become your reality!

Almost all creative features on the property come from recycled materials giving the pieces a second life!  I absolutely LOVE when people create art from recycled goods.  What a great way to help the environment while creating something beautiful!

Fun fact: the husband is actually the one responsible for mounting the flag that can be seen at Fletcher Point!

And an exterior shot of their tree house!

Mosaics everywhere!

Beneath the tree house is a relaxing nook with benches and a hammock:

And inside of it!

Take a look at that view!!

Soooo dreamy!

They were kind enough to show inside their real house too.  Talk about amazing lighting!!  So many warm hues inside met with the blues of dawn’s light.  Truly stunning!

Ahhh I love this house so much!  It reminded me a bit of Maude’s home in Harold & Maude:

Thankfully we stayed long enough to see the property at night!
