Hello everyone! This is a friendly reminder that any of these fun places we may visit, we are a guest at. Please treat both businesses and trails with the utmost respect. We here at Hidden San Diego follow the 'Leave no Trace' mantra, meaning whatever you bring with you comes back with you. If you see trash on a trail, please do your part to help remove it. Remember, we are not picking up trash from another person but instead cleaning up for Mother Nature. Happy adventures!
I can’t tell you how many times I drove on the 5 freeway and would see this huge sign that read ‘Orchids’ while passing by Encinitas. You can see a huge greenhouse and I always wondered what it looked like inside. One day I finally decided to get off the exit and check it out!
I was entranced the moment I drove up their entrance. It was like being transported into a different land navigating through a canopy of lush greenery.
Once you make it to their actual nursery you will see why they are said to be the largest orchid nursery in San Diego. They are FILLED with orchids!
When I visited I saw a man with a professional camera that was there to just merely photograph the orchids They are truly drawing all sorts of lovers of beauty here.
It turns out this is a multi-generational company was established over half a century ago. The year-round warm weather creates an ideal environment for the orchids to thrive.
Very quickly were they known for their beautiful, high-quality orchids.
One of their offerings they are most popular for is their orchid boarding. That’s right, they have their very own orchid hotel! For those that have a sick plant or one that hasn’t bloomed in awhile, they will plant-sit your orchid for as long as you wish, slowly nursing it back to optimal health.
They have a profound knowledge and expertise in nurturing orchids and can be trusted with your baby for extended periods of time.Â
Over the years they have passed up big opportunities to sell their land to developers, instead opting to keep their humble business firmly planted. And for that, I feel it is very important that we help support this lovely business!
