Hello everyone! This is a friendly reminder that any of these fun places we may visit, we are a guest at. Please treat both businesses and trails with the utmost respect. We here at Hidden San Diego follow the 'Leave no Trace' mantra, meaning whatever you bring with you comes back with you. If you see trash on a trail, please do your part to help remove it. Remember, we are not picking up trash from another person but instead cleaning up for Mother Nature. Happy adventures!

About the Inn at Moonlight

The Inn at Moonlight Beach is the dreamiest hotel I have ever visited.  The blend of wellness, nature and hospitality is seamlessly incorporated throughout the entire facility.  In fact, they were the first awarded WELL™ Certified hotel in the world!

Be prepared for a very intimate stay, with only 5 suites offered throughout the property. The Inn’s intention is to nourish you from the inside out and to leave with a increase in one’s awareness.

If you are unfamiliar with the wellness movement, this is the perfect opportunity to learn more. You will have a complete immersion into this lifestyle during your stay and hopefully leave as an elevated version of yourself!

Biodynamic Farming

The entire property of the Inn at Moonlight Beach is surrounded by a connected, living, biodynamic urban farm. Take your time walking around the garden as you inhale the sweet aroma of medicinal herbs and fragrant flowers.

When I first learned that the property was a biodynamic garden, I didn’t think much more of it beyond it being organic.  I was blown away to learn how in-depth and specific biodynamic farming actually is.

Biodynamic farming is a holistic approach to agriculture that emphasizes the interconnectivity of soil, plants, animals, and cosmic rhythms. It was developed by Rudolf Steiner in the 1920s and integrates organic farming principles with spiritual and mystical beliefs.

Biodynamic farmers use natural methods like composting, cover cropping, and crop rotation to enhance soil fertility and biodiversity. They also follow a planting calendar based on lunar and astrological cycles.

It also involves preparations made from natural substances like cow manure and quartz, which are used to stimulate soil and plant health.

The Inn offers fun classes to learn more about their farm such as their Biodynamic Garden Experience which encourages their guests to get their hands dirty and truly connect with the earth.

Holistic Healing

The Inn has so many holistic pockets throughout the property that just existing here is healing within itself.  Beyond that though, they offer various modalities including yoga, meditation, nutrition, and natural therapies.

Guests are immersed in a space designed to promote inner balance and vitality, with organic meals sourced locally and mindfully prepared. Healing practices include massage therapy and energy work are tailored to individual needs. Their treatments include the following:

  • Signature Moonlight Massage (60|90 mins)
  •  Specialty Massages Ayurvedic, Chakra Balancing, and Reiki Healing
  • Herbal Tea Foot Soak with a pot of ayurvedic tea and healthy snacks

Rooms & Suites

The 5 suite options (appropriately named after herbs) were designed with meticulous intentions. Guests will get the opportunity to witness a harmonious blend of comfort, sustainability and serenity.

Each room has been thoughtfully curated to offer a peaceful retreat, featuring eco-friendly materials and mindful amenities.

The décor embraces natural elements, with earthy tones and organic textures creating a soothing ambiance. Guests can choose from a variety of accommodations including cozy guest rooms, spacious suites and charming cottages.

Each suite offers modern conveniences such as plush bedding, private bathrooms, and Wi-Fi access. Many rooms also feature private balconies or patios.

When we first arrived in our suite we were welcomed by the most beautiful fruit board I have ever seen, a fresh bouquet of flowers and a hearty pot of tea. The smells were amazing. Candles were lit in each room and the air purifier was running as well as a diffuser.

Not long after I unpacked there was a knock on the door for my herbal foot soak.  I then sat on balcony over-looking the garden below and soaked my tired feet in the most glorious foot soak ever while indulging in the fruit board.

Please note that each suite has its own HVAC system that ensures no cross ventilation/contamination with other suites.

Luxury Bath

As I was first poking around the suite I completely missed looking at the actual bath tub.  It wasn’t until many hours later that I noticed the incredible floral bath soak prepared for me. This was a life-changing experience and I have now been doing floral bath soaks for my baby who is LOVING them!

The soaks come equipped with their herbal tea bath pouches, grown and harvested from their garden, Epsom salts and essential oils. There was also a homemade soap and I made sure to bring in a cup of tea AND a glass of wine.  Life is good!

Teas & Nourishment

If you stay overnight you will receive a complimentary breakfast basket in the morning.  You can choose from a checklist of what you would like to receive.  I got a yogurt parfait, green juice, hard boiled egg, protein bar and avocado.

*Vegan, Gluten Free, Vegetarian & Raw options are available.

The tea was one of the most exciting parts of my stay and I drank it the entire time.  Not only do you get the pot in your room but they have several freshly brewed selections in their boutique below.  It was so good that I bought a bag of it to take home!

Well Certification

The Inn at Moonlight Beach is actually the first hotel in the world to be recognized as WELL Certified Platinum by the International Well Building Institute. Launched in 2014, it is third-party certified by the Green Business Certification Incorporation (GBCI), which administers the LEED Green Building Certification.

While LEED, a green building standard, focuses on the health and wellbeing of people, WELL is the next-generation Building Standard that focuses on the health and wellbeing of people. This means that the hotel has passed all excruciating tests for exceptional air, water, lighting, nutrition, fitness, comfort, and mind.

Personal Experience

I have had the incredible opportunity to visit so many of San Diego’s beautiful resorts.  I have to say, out of all of them though, this one left me the most uplifted.  It definitely put something inside of me that created a bit of a shift and I am so thankful for that.

It encouraged my path of clean living and continuing to take steps towards creating a safe and harmonious environment in my own spaces.

Everyone I met here was so kind and welcoming and you can tell that not only do they love working here but they are passionate about it.

I took a couple of their classes including their Biodynamic Garden Tour and Honey Workshop Infusion + Honey Tasting.  It was so much fun working with the earth and creating some beautiful items that I got to take home.
