Hello everyone! This is a friendly reminder that any of these fun places we may visit, we are a guest at. Please treat both businesses and trails with the utmost respect. We here at Hidden San Diego follow the 'Leave no Trace' mantra, meaning whatever you bring with you comes back with you. If you see trash on a trail, please do your part to help remove it. Remember, we are not picking up trash from another person but instead cleaning up for Mother Nature. Happy adventures!
Barrel & Board really seems to have all you could ask for in an evening out. They offer delicious food & drinks at an affordable price while being situated in a beautiful Parisian-styled restaurant (with décor that is actually imported from France).
There are themed rooms throughout the space that range from cozy patios with fireplaces, to dimly lit Victorian-era dens to red-lit bars complete with fog machines. I loved the laid-back atmosphere paired with turn-of-the-century French glam.
Located in the heart of Hillcrest, Barrel & Board can be a great way to either begin your evening before hitting the strip or spend your entire night because they really have it all!
The group behind Barrel & Board are a real powerhouse in the area, also owning Urban Mo’s, Gossip Grill, Baja Betty’s, InsideOut and Hillcrest Brewing. These are all highly respected bars and restaurants in the area.
Don’t get me started with the food though! I quickly learned why they are called Barrel & Board, as one of their main specialties are gourmet charcuterie boards. We had one of the most beautiful boards I have ever had and for truly a great deal!
We already decided that if we have a get-together where we want to include a charcuterie board, instead of making it we’re going to just pick one up from here. You really save a lot more money vs. buying each ingredient individually. Those boards can get pricey!
Their drinks are unique, artisanal concoctions and are all named after powerful female singers and their hit songs. My partner ordered ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” for instance, which had tequila, coconut cream and lemongrass syrup.. They even have a wonderful mocktail menu so no one is left out!
My favorite room was what they’re calling the speakeasy:
Their bar, & Bar, was like a mini nightclub complete with a fog machine. So much fun!
This was their Luna Room which is usually used for private events:
I will definitely be back again!
