Hello everyone! This is a friendly reminder that any of these fun places we may visit, we are a guest at. Please treat both businesses and trails with the utmost respect. We here at Hidden San Diego follow the 'Leave no Trace' mantra, meaning whatever you bring with you comes back with you. If you see trash on a trail, please do your part to help remove it. Remember, we are not picking up trash from another person but instead cleaning up for Mother Nature. Happy adventures!

Cottonwood Creek is an extremely short adventure (or possibly long if you enjoy tennis), but it’s a fun hidden gem nonetheless. Located in Encinitas, this little spot is maintained by the by the Cottonwood Creek Conservancy, in partnership with the City of Encinitas and with grant assistance from the California State Coastal Conservancy.
Beyond the sweet little pond and lush natural landscaping, there is a secret tennis court tucked in here! I was really taken back by it because it just doesn’t fit in with the spot in my opinion! That makes it that more special though!
There is a tiny loop trail you can take and then be on your way to the beach, shopping or hopefully Dave’s Rock Garden which is directly across the street! That’s how we originally found out about this place!
I have visited here a couple times and each time has had a different experience. The last time I visited there were a handful or homeless hanging out at the bottom. This could be potentially off-putting to some, especially if you are alone so please take note of that. If you are into helping out the needy, it’s a great opportunity to drop off a care package, and continue on your loop.
Here’s a shot of the tennis court!
