Hello everyone! This is a friendly reminder that any of these fun places we may visit, we are a guest at. Please treat both businesses and trails with the utmost respect. We here at Hidden San Diego follow the 'Leave no Trace' mantra, meaning whatever you bring with you comes back with you. If you see trash on a trail, please do your part to help remove it. Remember, we are not picking up trash from another person but instead cleaning up for Mother Nature. Happy adventures!

Saving Animals & Healing Hearts, Inc. is a non profit 501(c)3 organization located in Ramona, giving a second chance to neglected and abused animals. They rescue horses, donkeys, mini horses, ponies, pigs, goats, alpacas, emus, turkeys, ducks, geese, chickens, dogs, and other domesticated animals.
Each animal at the farm has a heart-breaking story. Many of the animals you will see are still in the healing process as they learn what love and stability feels like each day.
The goal is always to re-home the animals, but if for whatever reason that is not possible, they become permanent residents of the facility. No animal will ever be euthanized due to re-homing issues.
Donors, sponsors and volunteers are always needed! Being a monthly sponsor is one of the biggest ways you can help, but volunteering and donating are very important ways you can make a difference as well!
They are always in need of food, blankets, grooming supplies, enclosures, water buckets, and children’s plastic wading pools (the pigs love them!). They also accept tack and farm implements as well as tractors and trailers, especially horse trailers.
When I was tipped off to Saving Animals & Healing Hearts Rescue I literally went out and visited it the next day! Reading the poor animal’s stories tore my heart out. It motivated me to spread the word quickly though of the constant need for donations to keep these animals fed and healthy.
This rescue is very close to the pot belly pig rescue Grazin’ Pig Acres. Why not make a day trip out of loving and volunteering at these lovely places! This is also a great place to stop by on your way up to Julian, Warner Springs or the desert!
Several of the horses on the farm were actually wild horses that were sent to slaughter. They were rescued by SAHH thankfully. It breaks my heart seeing wild horses domesticated like this, but obviously it’s better than being killed!
There are two donkeys on the property: Ella and her child, Jaxon. Ella was rescued from the slaughter and came to the farm shaking, emaciated and, unbeknownst to anyone but Terry, pregnant. On labor day 2017 Jaxon was born.
Jaxson continues to make friends with everyone he meets and brings a smile to everyone’s face. He loves to cuddle and be brushed and he loves to run and play. As he grows and matures he will soon start joining Sparky and learning how to behave and become an ambassador for Saving Animals & Healing Hearts.Â
These pigs came from an abusive home and are in the early stages still of healing from such severe trauma. Many of the pigs have visible scars, missing ears, etc. As each day passes one by one, they slowly learn to trust and what love feels like:
These sweet lil’ babies sit for their cookie just like a dog would!
