About our Electric Vehicle Roadtrip
We recently teamed up with SDG&E to help promote electric vehicles and take an EV out on the road! We got the opportunity to rent an affordable Hyundai Ioniq 2022 and took it out for a weekend getaway! I was truly blown away by how much ground we were able to cover on one charge. We explored both the coast all the way into San Diego's back-country quite extensively.
What's truly exciting is that there are many electrical charging ports all throughout San Diego County that are FREE to re-charge your car! If not free, the others are extremely affordable and definitely much cheaper than gas. I learned that there are nearly 7,000 level 2 charging ports in our region, 3,200 owned by SDG&E.
After spending a weekend in an electric vehicle, I am now sold on my next car being one of these. Not only is it environmentally-friendly, but as gas prices soar higher and higher, this is the only thing that truly makes sense.
We started our adventure off by going to a secret tunnel/cave in La Jolla, known as the Sunny Jim Cave! This spot never gets old!
Always make time for secret swings if there's one around!
We then headed up to Mt. Soledad for some gorgeous views of La Jolla!
We then snuck through a freezer portal into the Grass Skirt speakeasy for some delicious food and drinks!
And enjoyed the fresh air and scenic views of Pacific Beach at Kate Sessions Park:
The next day we started off in Barrio Logan for a bite to eat of fresh tacos and horchata:
We stopped by Chicano Park before heading off to the back-country:
The interior off the car was so new age. I loved the navigation screen:
Once we were in the mountains, we first stopped by Green Valley Campground to enjoy the pools of water and dip our feet in.
We then made our way out to one of my favorite lookout spots:
We then walked around downtown Julian, exploring all the adorable shops:
See if you can find the old jail cell out here!
Lastly we visited Fort Cross Old Timey Adventures to play with a bunch of animals and partake in some old timey fun such as slingshots and tomahawk-throwing!
And that's a wrap!
